WeChat is a Chinese instant messaging service, with functions similar to Whastapp, and has one billion users. A Chinese entrepreneur has settled into Andorra Telecom’s accelerator/incubator company NiU, to develop an app based on WeChat, which is aimed at Chinese tourists visiting Andorra.

The app will contain basic information about the country's history, culture, society and economic model. It will also provide users with information about the main attractions and events, and will make it possible to promote brands and establishments, buy tickets or book a hotel and find out about real estate opportunities.

The main target audience are the 450,000 Chinese citizens living in Spain and France who may wish to visit Andorra. The app, called "Vacation in Andorra", provides extensive information about the country and enhances the experience for visitors.

The entrepreneur responsible for the project, Huanzhou Zhang, explained that the great advantage of being a mini-programme integrated into WeChat is that it is a very user-friendly app because it is in Chinese and does not need to be downloaded, since it is already part of the messenger service they use every day.

The head of NiU, Miquel Gouarré, believes that this project has a special interest for Andorra Telecom’s accelerator "because it is based on innovation and technology, and because it can mean greater promotion of the country in a market with great potential and will make it possible to improve the customer experience for Chinese tourists in Andorra".

Gouarré also pointed out that this start-up demonstrates that the possibility of doing business in Andorra is not only attractive to entrepreneurs from neighbouring countries, but also "that we aspire to attract entrepreneurship from all over the world”.
